Since March 2007, Dr. Mouna Hassoun is the President of the Arab Academy for E-Business, Aleppo, Syria – an institution of the Council of Arab Economic Unity, League of Arab States.
She is the first Syrian Women to retain the position of University President.
She was the Director of Syria National TEMPUS office at the Ministry of Higher Education, where she worked during the period 2002-2006 on the Reform of the Higher Education system (EU program).
She has special interests in Higher Education issues and mainly Quality Assurance and strategic planning.
She worked at the Higher Institute of Applied Science and Technology (Damascus, Syria) as a researcher and a lecturer in computer science (1995-2003).
She participated in the definition of the national ICT Strategy for Syria through the UNDP project "E-Strategy for Syria".
She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science – Artificial Intelligence - from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (France) and an Executive Master in Business Administration from the Higher Institute of Business Administration (Syria).
Dr. Hassoun has won the French "Academic Palms" Award in 2006 (Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Palmes Académiques).
