Christina Scott hosts a weekly radio programme, Science Matters, on SAfm radio - the main English-language radio station in South Africa - between 9.00 and 10.00 pm South African time on Thursdays, and will be going straight from the airport on arrival in Cape Town to present an in-depth focus on for her programme on October 1.

Christina lectures in science communication at the University of Cape Town and edits the monthly science section for the Mail & Guardian, a weekly national newspaper online at www.mg.co.za. She is also associate editor of www.ScienceinAfrica.com, a non-profit online news website. She has mentored reporters in Kenya, Nigeria and Ghana through the World Federation of Science Journalists, as a result of which two of her reporters gained MIT fellowships in the USA. She also helped launch the world's first online course for science journalists, has published two books, and is vice-president of the South African Science Journalists' Association (SASJA). She is the queen of caffeine!
