Dr. Hayat Touchan

Dr Touchan is a professor of plant physiology and head of the plant physiology laboratory at the Faculty of Agriculture, Aleppo University She holds a Ph.D. in Biology, and she is a Senior Plant Physiology at the Faculty of Science, Paris,; Pierre and Mary CURIE University, France. She was one of 470 selected scientists to win Francophone in Science for Middle East (2008).

She has used her expertise to identify and describe several physiology parameters related novel genetic plant resistance to drought and salinity problems. She received funds from France, ICARDA, IPGRI and European projects. She added new physiological parameters to the Agriculture literature. She is one of the pioneers who accurately diagnose, delineate and publish on plants a biotic stress. On the other hand she is the head of the laboratory of research in plant a biotic stress. She participated in determining the physiology parameters of plant causing common genetic resistance of durum wheat and Legumes in Syria to the drought and salinity.

She is a member in the National Council for Women in Science and Technology. Her leadership and dedication are evident in her commitment to education and research Her graduate a lot of MSc and PhD students. She devoted 100% of her time and effort to the plant physiology training, data analysis and publications. She had more than 100 scientific publications and 4 chapters in books in the area of acute. She serves on several local, national and international committees.
