Prof. Dr. Hanan Issa Malkawi academic background: had her B.Sc Degree in Biological Sciences at Yarmouk University-Jordan, M.Sc degree in Bacteriology & Public Health at Washington State University-USA and her Ph.D in Microbiology & Molecular Biology at Washington State University-USA.
Have several research lines in biotechnology and its applications in environment, health, agriculture, microbiology, molecular biology and industry, and recently in nanotechnology and has good and practical experience with EU funded projects.
Recently (2008), she registered a patent with her Jordanian team entitled " Method for the Production of Bare (Non-functionalized) Multiple element Magnetic Nanoparticles and their use in Fast Detection and Removal of Pathogenic Bacteria from Water Resources. She has over 50 published papers in peer reviewed scientific journals and also outstanding teaching activities at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. She supervised more than 23 graduate students. She received several awards and fellowships and she is active member in several national, regional and international committees.
Prof. Malkawi has held several administrative positions: Assistant & Vice-Dean of Fcaulty of Sciences and currently she is the Director of Foreign Projects Management Unit, and the Director of UNESCO Chair for Desert Studies at Yarmouk University.
