The Arab Science and Technology Foundation (ASTF) has been persisting ever since its establishment, to support, promote and facilitate Science and Technology in the Arab World. In an effort to create opportunities for sustainability in the science community, ASTF is managing a call for technology commercialization proposals for Iraqi scientists. ASTF is seeking to assist Iraqi scientists and engineers who have products and/or technologies that have commercialization potential, focusing on marketable products in local, regional, or international markets. Through available funds, equal opportunity is given to all of the competing proposals according to the guidelines and priorities set by ASTF management. All competing proposals, which meet ASTF criteria are evaluated and judged by independent peers of high repute in their field, with merit as the decisive factor in arriving at the final selection of proposals to be funded. The Arab Science and Technology Foundation completed a survey of Iraq’s Science and Technology needs in 2004. The survey was conducted with the help of expatriate Iraqi scientists and scientists residing in Iraq. Since the survey, ASTF has conducted various activities to assist Iraqi scientists, including funding research activities for Iraqi scientists.

Grants are normally available for all science groups and researchers who have actively worked and are currently residing in Iraq. Potential applicants are those who have working prototypes of commercialization potential, focusing on marketable products in local, regional, or international markets.
