Dr. Hanan Melkawy, Yarmouk University’s president & member of ASTF Board, discussed with Henry Diab -manager of languages and Middle East studies center in Swedish lund university in Tuesday 12 June, 2012, the scientific and academic cooperation ways in the field of common programs execution between the two sides.

Dr. Melkawy expressed the university’s readiness presented in Centre for Refugee Studies and Forced Migration, to cooperate with lund university, to suggest paths of common academy for master stage in the field of refugee and forced migration. She refers that the scientific cooperation project between Yarmouk and lund universities that is supported from Europe union will save training opportunities and academic scholar fellowship and researchers in many scientific specializations that suit the Yarmouk university aspirations and its academic program.

From his side, Diab expressed the importance of the cooperation between Yarmouk university in the program of forced migration for master stage, attracting the attention to the importance of renew the cooperation agreement between the two sides, that included students and stuff exchange between the two universities, and holding educational programs and common scientific researches, in additional to exchange of scientific visits between the two sides.

Dr. Abdul Basit Athamny - manager of refugees and displaced center in the university- clarified that the cooperation between the two university include students and the universities’ stuff exchange, and it will be the next year.

It was referred that the center of refugees and forced migration was established in 1997, and aims to encourage the executing of the researches and studies related to refugee and migration cases, and develop the awareness with such cases, in additional to train the local and regional working cadres in the field of refugee care, and held conferences and symposiums discussing different cases that related to the migration and refugee.
